Saints and Virgins: Who's who? (Quiz 1 of7)

In front of certain tympanums, statues, columns, capitals or stained glass windows of   Romanesque or Gothic churches, we are sometimes unable to identify the characters represented.
However, there are simple means for recognizing them:

1: Who is this valiant knight knight who kills the dragon?

2: In which country is he one of the most venerated saints?

He is represented with a horse, in armour, attacking the dragon with his lance, which has a  silver plated banner with a red cross. Generally, one can see the princess whom he saved from the dragon.

3: Why is the lamb one of the symbols of Saint Agnes ?

Abecause of the resemblance of her name to that of the animal

Bit is the symbol of purity, innocence, and  protected virtue

Cbecause it was let lead very submissively to its torment

She was denounced as a Christian by an admirer whom  the beautiful Roman girl had refused, and sent in revenge to a brothel.
One recognizes her with the lamb and it is usually represented with very long hair which hides her nudity.
